Hello, I am writing on behalf of a team at the University of Helsinki
Cognitive Brain Research Unit who are conducting an experiment about
timing in the brain. We are in need of native German speakers for one
group of our study and I was given your information by one of our
native German speaking participants. If it is possible to pass along
the following information, we would be very grateful!
We are looking for native German speakers (15 years or more in the
native environment) who are not bilingual in Finnish. They must be 35
years old or younger, right handed, and nonmusicians (less than 2
years of formal training as adults and no regular musical practice).
The experiment uses a non-invasive technique called EEG
(electroencephalography), which uses a fitted hat of electrodes to
measure brain waves as the participant listens to some sounds and
watches a silent movie. There is also a simple hearing test and a
behavioural task that asks the participant to compare pairs of sounds.
The entire experiment takes about 3 hours to complete, and
participants are given 3-4 movie tickets in return. Our lab is
located at Siltavuorenpenger 1B, room 372.
I am the contact person for recruitment on this study, so for any
questions or concerns, and to sign up for the study, please contact me.
